Social Media Best Practices

As of late, there’s been increasing buzz in society about how social media is having a very negative impact in the society we live in. As much as I think in certain ways they could be right, I — as an artist — have personally had a very positive experience with social media by being more focused about genuine content and engaging with my fans.

For musicians or artists who are trying to find their audience in terms of the art they cater to, social media gives you the best opportunity to find your tribe or those interested in your art by reaching a massive audience with no geographical boundaries compared to traditional forms of marketing.

Being genuine about your work and posting authentic content.

In my opinion, one significant negative impact of social media is that people have to dig deeper and search extensively to find content that is authentic or ‘True’ — misinformation has caused so much confusion, creating irreversible calamities between communities leading to many questioning the social repercussions of the increasing growth in usage of social media.

As such, I find that posting genuine and authentic news/content is the most important practice that should be followed by all on social media. The phrase “keep it real” should be literally followed by all without faking ones way into the world. We need to work together as one global community and feed positive and genuine information to each other so we can make the world a better place, with attention being brought towards issues that are actually of significance like global warming and how we can work together to overcome it.

Consistency and engaging with your audience with valuable posts.

Having your content schedule planned and ready and posting it at suitable times is essential in the fast paced environment we live in right now in order to gain the maximum reach with the relevant audience. That’s why it is important when you do post, that it’s something that’s engaging or of value to the audience you cater to. If your posts don’t make sense and are just click bait you will lose your audience in the long run. With so many tools freely available to us in this technologically advanced age to analyze insights on user activity on your social media posts, it is important to take that into account and tweak your social media strategy accordingly..

I think among the many important measures that should be taken, the two points mentioned above should be given a lot of thought in terms of best practices on social media as collectively we could use it to create a far greater positive impact in our society.
